We are doing this study to collect information about our state-of-the-art methods to care for the bladder and kidneys of babies born with spina bifida. We want to compare the results of these methods with other hospitals around the country that are following the same guidelines to protect the bladder and kidney health of infants with spina bifida. We and the other centers following these guidelines will regularly evaluate the outcomes of this care and modify the methods accordingly.

If you join this study, you will receive shots after your surgery. The shots will contain either a medicine called inclisiran or a placebo, which has no medicine. You will get the first shot after surgery, then another shot at three months, and then every six months after that. You will come to the clinic for each shot. At these visits, the study team will ask about your health, side effects, and any medicines you are taking. You will also have blood tests at certain visits to check how your body is doing. You have an equal chance of receiving inclisiran or the placebo. The study is planned to last about three years.

We are doing this study to learn how we can help and improve care for patients that have had a transplant.

In this study, people will be placed into one of three groups by chance. Two groups will receive a study medicine called VEL 101, which is given as a shot under the skin every two weeks. The third group will receive a standard medicine called tacrolimus, which is taken by mouth twice each day. The study will last about 12 to 14 months, depending on the group. Participants will have up to 26 visits during the study. At these visits, doctors will do blood tests, urine tests, heart checks, physical exams, and ask questions about how the person is feeling.
