Purpose of this Study
You might learn ways to help your family member feel better when they're in pain.
The answers you give will help create programs to help other families too.
You'll fill out online surveys with multiple choice questions before and after five Zoom meetings with a trained counselor.
Who Can Participate?
Eligibility
Who can be in the study?
Patients:
- Are 50 years or older
- Speak English
- Have memory problems (mild or moderate dementia)
- Feel pain most days for at least 3 months
- Live at home (not in a nursing home)
- Pain makes it hard to do things
Caregivers:
- Are 18 years or older
- Speak English
- Help the patient for at least 4 hours every day

What is Involved?
Description
This study wants to help older people with memory problems and pain feel better.
They live at home and are cared for by a family member.
You and your family member will answer questions at the start and end of the study.
You'll also meet with a therapist five times over 6 to 8 weeks to learn ways to handle pain.
The goal is to make a program that helps families deal with pain together.
