Purpose of this Study
Participants will first have a finger stick blood test to see if they have sickle cell trait. If they do, they may continue in the study by completing a health survey, having their height, weight, blood pressure, and heart rate measured, providing a blood sample, and giving a urine sample. Researchers will use this information to learn more about the health of people with sickle cell trait.
Who Can Participate?
Eligibility
Participants may be able to join if they are adults with known or suspected sickle cell trait and are willing to be tested to confirm whether they have it. They cannot have sickle cell disease, including sickle cell-beta thalassemia, end stage kidney disease, be receiving dialysis, or test negative for sickle cell trait.

What is Involved?
Description
This study is following people with sickle cell trait over time to learn how it may affect their health. Researchers want to better understand whether sickle cell trait is linked to conditions such as chronic kidney disease and identify factors that may increase the risk of developing health problems.
