This study lasts about eight months. After joining, participants will complete an assessment and then be placed into one of two groups by chance. One group will be offered up to 12 counseling sessions with a study therapist over about eight weeks. The other group will be given information about behavioral health services that are already available in the community. Everyone will also receive information about services that can help support health after returning to the community. During the study, participants will have follow up visits over several months and brief check in calls between visits. At these visits, they will answer questions and take part in interviews about their health and substance use. Researchers want to learn if counseling can improve health and well being for people taking part in the study.
