BRCA HRT RCT Pilot (BRCA Mutations)

Purpose of this Study

We are doing this study to better understand women's preferences for and concerns about hormone replacement. We want to learn from women who have had their fallopian tubes and ovaries removed due to BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations.

Who Can Participate?

Eligibility

Women ages 19-49 who:
  • Are diagnosed with a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation
  • Are scheduled to have a risk reducing surgery with a gynecologic oncologist
  • Do not have any history of cancer

What is Involved?

Description

If you choose to join this study, you will fill out brief surveys at several time points before and after your surgery. You will also get a random assignment (like a coin flip) to either receive standard of care counseling about hormone replacement therapy or the standard of care plus an educational video.
