Purpose of this Study

What is Involved?
Description
This study is for children with juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM), a rare disease that causes muscle inflammation and can affect other parts of the body. Researchers want to learn more about what causes JDM and how it affects the body. They will use small samples of muscle tissue collected during a planned medical biopsy to study genes, cells, proteins, and possible new treatments. The goal is to create a better model of the disease that may help scientists develop new medicines in the future. The risk is low because only a small amount of extra tissue will be collected during a biopsy that is already being done as part of the child's medical care.
